ARIZONA'S KARAOKE ALLIANCE (AKA)

The Arizona Karaoke Alliance is a group of Karaoke Companies that have joined forces in order to try to better our industry and our local Arizona Karaoke Club Scene. 

We believe in honesty, integrity, professionalism, and good clean karaoke FUN!

We have put together this code of ethics that all of our companies must follow to be members.
 

Arizona Karaoke Alliance (AKA) Code of Ethical Requirements

 The Arizona Karaoke Alliance is a group of Professional Karaoke Companies that have banded together in an effort to create a more positive, more professional environment to the Phoenix karaoke market.  Foremost we love music and want to create good, clean, honest fun for other music lovers and also create revenues for the clubs that host our services.   

We openly invite other Karaoke Companies to join us in our efforts and be part of our group.  As a member of the Alliance a company must meet the requirements of and comply with the following code of ethics. 

1.        Technology and Music Selection - We support the latest in technology. It allows for higher quality shows with less skipping discs, better fill time between songs by using upbeat classic party music, and safety in protecting discs from being stolen or damaged at a show.  However our members must be legal.  If using mp3 type of player, CAVS type player, computer or burned discs, you must show proof of one to one copies for each system. If you company is running 3, 4 or 5 shows per night then you must be purchasing and have in your inventory that same corresponding number of copies. 

2.        Insurance - While we do not require it we highly recommend Liability insurance for your shows.  This is to protect your vested interest and covers you in case the bar requires you to have insurance. .  A small annual fee in exchange for peace of mind. It is strongly recommended for your protection.  Members of the AKJA have the ability to add discounted insurance via their membership.   AKJA Members demonstrate a desire to do business ethically and professionally.  See www.AKJA.org for benefits.

3.        License or Trade name - Any legitimate business must have a business license or a certification of their tradename.  Hobbyists (who do this as a side job) often disappear leaving bars stuck at the last moment and often hide illegal music or sub par equipment by not having a valid license so they can be tracked.  This is also to protect you personal assets if you are unfortunate enough to be sued.  Keep your business and personal assets separate. 

4.        Wholesome Entertainment - The saying, “sex sells” may work in some advertising campaigns or karaoke companies, but not with Arizona Karaoke Alliance (A.K.A).  A.K.A. wants wholesome family type atmosphere.  No lingerie’ shows or provocatively dressed hosts will be accepted in this alliance.   We want no connections to the adult entertainment industry.  We want to foster a warm caring, comfortable environment for everyone where we can all enjoy music together.

5.        Training Program - We are currently working on an actual Karaoke Hosting Certification.. We actively train all hosts in MC skills, reading crowds, dealing with issues, and music and equipment theory in respect to adjustments and troubleshooting.  Companies can use our program or show us their current methods to be included.

6.        Best for venue principles - Each of our bars are encouraged to identify any problems with a show , music or hosts to their hosting companies. If a member hosting company is having an issue we promise to meet with club owners and discuss changing hosts or adjusting styles or changing up equipment.. Since we have several companies we can even look at switching out the company if that is required.  Remember, sometimes people have personality conflicts and a slight change can make it better for everyone.  All of our owners have agreed to come in and help mediate an issue if it arises.

7.        Drinking – Smoking - Working in a bar environment as an entertainer is a bit different from most places.  Many bars like the host to loosen up a bit or help with pitching of drinks... We will always announce your bar specials and we will always pitch your drinks.  If you do not want your host drinking let us know and they will not drink at your show... All hosts will only take limited smoke breaks and never allow those breaks to interrupt the show.  Hosts are never to be out of control, use foul language, or act unprofessionally.  As companies we agree to supervise this and act upon any related issue from any club. 

8.        Timeliness - We take our shows and your profits very seriously.  Our hosts are always to be on site 30 minutes prior to show with music tested at least 10 minutes prior to start.  This allows for troubleshooting time if problems arise.  If a show starts late due to any host controllable issues, we will either extend the show or give you a proportional discount.  This requires you to contact your hosting company’s manager at the time this occurs.  That way we can identify repeated issues and make sure you are being taken care of.   If your host is constantly running late we want to know so we can fix the issue.
